Anna Bondoc

I am an artist, designer, teacher, writer, and avid home cook. I'm also the author of a DIY book, SIMPLY PAPER CUTTING: HAND-CUT PAPER PROJECTS FOR HOME DECOR, STATIONERY & GIFTS (Fox Chapel Publishing, 2012). My writing and designs have appeared in Traditional Home Magazine; Cloth, Paper, Scissors; Stitch; Better Homes and Gardens' Make It Yourself Magazine; and in various blogs, including Daily Candy and Apartment Therapy. Every design you see here on Silhouette and on my site www.annabondoc.com began with a craft knife, card stock and glue. I developed this unique approach to pattern design shortly after my daughter was born. Wanting to continue my printmaking skills without the use of a press or toxic solvents, I hand-cut patterns into paper, adding additional paper layers and cutting as I went. The results were bold, graphic and often intricate and multi-layered compositions. I'm inspired by my love for Japanese and Scandinavian motifs, as well as the Arts and Crafts, Mid-Century Modern and Art Nouveau furniture.
