Melissa Esplin

Melissa embraces creativity with letterforms while still prioritizing a connection to traditional calligraphy theory. She believes that we all need to express creativity and that crafting is a wonderful outlet for both left- and right-brained people. She loves to bring her love for calligraphy, lettering, watercolor and packaging design together with her Silhouette projects!

Melissa Esplin is CHH or Chief Hobby Hoarder in her household. She and her husband live on the snow-capped mountains of Utah with their 3 delightful, fast-growing children who all are taking after their parents with a variety of creative interests. Melissa's hobbies include (but are not limited to): calligraphy, photography, biking, drawing, painting, sewing, biking and pottery.

Melissa started out self-taught with calligraphy in 2009 (making all the beginner mistakes along the way) but didn't stay that way. She has since taken a multitude of classes and workshops from acclaimed artists such as Jake Weidmann, Kathy Milici, Christopher Haanes, Julian Waters and Michael Sull to name a few. The learning never stops!
