Thirty-one single-piece boxes have center top and bottom threading holes to allow them to be strung onto a bundle of narrow decorative ribbons. Each box front flaps opens easily “bottom up” with a cutout finger tab, allowing it to be opened to discover message, activity or treat found inside each day. A top “finial” design includes a decorative oval set with “31” and “halloween” cutouts, Both top and bottom finials wrap around their respective, slightly modified boxes with a window on the front to allow opening as with others. Use box flap as front, or cut box front panels using your favorite collection of orange and black pattern paper, attach to boxes, then decorate box fronts with numbers in sequence, or use companion box front decorative tags available as a separate design (Halloween tags or countdown cascade box fronts). Extra shapes provided for option to omit finials. To track which day it is on the cascade, create and attach one of the “Halloween pinch clip end decorations” from design file sold separately. BOX ASSEMBLY: Cut 29 regular boxes and 2 modified boxes. Glue base side and back flaps, then fold top down and glue side flap inside box (reach into front to apply pressure). (NOTE: for modified #1 and #31 boxes, the upper front box side will be folded down into position, then the lower front side pieces will be glued to the upper front.) Push finger tab out. To close box, fold side flaps inward, fold top flap (with tab slot) down, then fold front up. Add 1-30 numbers to box front flaps. Box 31 is already part of the top finial. TOP FINIAL ASSEMBLY: (NOTE: sample was cut using patterned cardstock; the cut shape does not include the polka dot pattern) 1) join front and back sections onto a single length by overlapping end tabs. 2) wrap and glue finial around its box and bring scalloped sections together at top, leaving the “hole” gap at center top.3) attach scalloped reinforcing connector sections behind corresponding front and back matching shapea, bending back and leaving tabs free during gluing. 4) bring back tabs together, overlap completely and glue in place. 5) fold “hole” segments back, overlap and glue. BOTTOM FINIAL ASSEMBLY: wrap around modified box with center section of final on top of the box (apply glue), position and glue box-bottom sections in place with holes aligned, bring scalloped portions together and glue. STACK ASSEMBLY: Bundle 6-7 narrow width Halloween ribbons (about 54-60” long) as desired, twist and wrap the end with masking tape to make a point. Tie ribbon rundle in an overhand knot about 4” from the bottom. Thread ribbon bundle through bottom box holes, then #2-#30 boxes in order, then top box and finial with ribbons passing between finial front and back then through top hole. Form top portion of ribbons into a loop then tie to secure. Trim excess ribbons as needed. Hang from hook or peg, then fill boxes as desired. Offset each box slightly from being in-line with adjacent boxes.
